A small area of field is also available for outdoor games so you won't be lost for things to do if you fancy spending a day close to home!

If you like to eat in, the kitchen is fully equipped with oven, electric hob and dishwasher so there's no need to argue over who's doing the washing up! For those treat nights where you want to eat out, there is an abundance of local restaurants including great pub food, Chinese, Indian, Italian and many seafood eateries taking advantage of our proximity to the Atlantic ocean. Local takeaways include fish and chips, pizza and Chinese. Local supermarkets within 5 minutes include Co-Op and Spar, with Morrisons and Lidl just 10 minutes away.

Local beaches, surfing, golf course, tennis, mini golf, horse-riding and fishing will help you to create lots of memories to take home with you and there is a fantastic choice of activities for kids such as soft play for the younger ones and even a nearby theme park for the kids to look forward to! Tamar Lakes is approximately 1 mile away and offers water sports and enjoyable walks. Devon Hills is a 5* holiday village situated between the coast of Torbay and the historic market town of Totnes, the nearest Beach is a 6 minute drive away. The site nestles in 60 acres of tranquil countryside and our lodge has a prime position with views over the Devon countryside and its own parking space. Decking wraps around three sides from which you can enjoy day long sun. This is an ideal location from which to explore the beautiful Devon countryside from the numerous blue flag beaches to the tiny picturesque hamlets. There is so much to enjoy right here, on your doorstep, and our lodge is fully equipped to give a perfect home from home feeling in which to return, after your day of sightseeing, or relaxing on the beach. The decking leads to the front door and into the open plan living accommodation with vaulted ceiling and double bi-fold doors opening onto the terrace. The fully fitted kitchen is equipped with a gas hob and electric fan oven and microwave. Also provided is a dishwasher, fridge, freezer, with the usual small appliances such as a toaster and kettle. There is also a separate utility with washing machine. The hallway takes you into the two double bedrooms both with quality mattresses. One with king size bed and the other with twin single beds. From the main bedroom is the fully tiled en-suite shower room with washbasin and toilet. The main bathroom has a bath with shower over, toilet and washbasin. There are large mirrors and televisions in both bedrooms. The lodge has a real home from home feel, for winter breaks there is gas central heating and double glazing to ensure that you are warm and cosy on even the coldest of days, flat screen television, DVD, and games for the children on wet days.

The holiday village of Devon Hills is a five star rated site and has a leisure complex boasting an indoor pool with children's pool, a sauna and a steam room. The Gym at Devon Hills has a reputation for being one of the best in the area with first class equipment and personal training if required. Outside you can try archery, tennis and table tennis and there is a small but adequate play area for children. The Blagdon Inn is a short walk away and offers good food and local beers along with wines, spirits and a warm welcome. An ideal solution for those that enjoy a drink without the drive home.

The site itself has a very tranquil atmosphere without the noisy attractions that can disrupt a stay on some of the more commercial sites. It makes a perfect base from which to acquaint yourself with the area. Whether walking, sailing, climbing or window shopping, everything that you could possibly want can be found within a twenty mile radius of Devon Hills. Grocery stores such as Asda, Morrison’s and Sainsbury are a few minutes’ drive away. The two nearest cities of Plymouth and Exeter both offer different interests with Plymouth having the famous Barbican and Exeter with its cathedral and canals. The National park of Dartmoor is nearby with its notorious ten tors and Dartmoor ponies and the South Hams boasts unspoilt hamlets and villages such as the village of Stoke Gabriel with its Mill pond, Slapton sands and the adjacent beaches and the sailing centre of Salcombe. There is so much to see and so many beautiful places to enjoy whatever the weather, Dartmouth, Totnes, Brixham and Dartington. For the children you are just two miles from Paignton Zoo and the beaches and pier. In Torquay you can visit Living Coasts to watch the penguins and seals performing and people watch from one of the continental style cafes along the harbour.

Our Shepherds Huts at Dittisham Hideaway are available from April the 15th 2022. They have been hand crafted to our high specification by West Country Artisans who take the greatest of pride in their craft, and who lovingly build them to detailed perfection.

Shared with 4 other Shepherds Huts, all are positioned in the old meadow of wild flowers with lovely views down the wooded valley.

The Shepherds Hut has a generous 234 sq. ft. of space and is 26 ft. long having been designed to comfortably accommodate 2 adults in luxury, with 1 luxury king bed however the adjoining Mini Shepherds Hut (9 ft. x 7 ft.), provides a total accommodation for 2 adults and upto 4 children (under 16 years old).

The Children’s own private mini Shepherds Hut has 2 sets of bunk beds situated next to the main Shepherds Hut and is linked by camera/sound intercom to the main Hut. We suggest young children are not left alone in the children’s hut and that one of the adults stays with them in the mini hut.

The exquisite interior of the huts boasts designer fabrics, made-to-measure furnishings and bespoke fittings alongside a traditional wood-burning stove, relaxation area with coffee table, fully-equipped kitchen, foldaway breakfast bar, a king-size double bed, generous bathroom with double walk-in power shower.

Each has its own private terrace with an outdoor wood-fired spa bath, Adirondack loungers, teak dining table and chairs with parasol, a fire pit and a double hammock.

2 well behaved dogs may join in the holiday with the provision of bowls and some treats. Dogs must be on the lead at all times whilst on the Dittisham Hideaway property. There are many public footpath country walks in the neighbourhood.

You will find the communal games barn is ideal for the days you wish to spend relaxing on-site – perhaps reading your holiday novel with a glass of something delicious in hand while the children play table tennis, chess or table football. Adults are allowed to join in the fun too!
