Romantic Shepherds Hut set above loch on highland farm 2

dalmally, Argyll, Scotland

Romantic Shepherds Hut set above loch on highland farm From £623 Availability

This listing is all about the romantic location of a beautiful hand painted shepherds hut called Josephine.

Sitting traditionally among sheep, above Loch Awe, the off grid hut is a mix of quirky folk art, shepherd paraphernalia and cosy Harris tweed woven from blackface wool.

Couples, writers, photographers, bird watchers, hill walkers, swimmers wishing to get away can do so here - only 40 minutes from both Glencoe & Oban.

Josephine was the owners first blackface pet lamb in the 1970s.

Josephine is fully insulated and totally off grid. This means she has a woodburning stove with a cooking plate on top. She has no running water or electricity. Water is supplied in 5L bottles and there is a tap in the farmyard for refills. She has a fixed double bed plus two seats in the dining area. She has 3 windows, a stable door and separating toilet. There are various barbeques built from stones on the shore near the pier. There is also a bbq in the old wool shed if its raining, plus power points, a sink, fridge and 24/7 access to water.

The loch is shallow and sandy by the pier and you can swim out to the ancient crannog. You are welcome to bring kayaks and / or paddle boards.

The field Josephine sits in is at various times of the year surrounded by wild flowers. There are always sheep in the field and you are not fenced off from them, plus there are red deer very often in the mornings and Highland cattle too.

There is a resident osprey much of the year, a resident eagle on the hill behind and we see otters and pine Martens too.
