Town: The village of Danby nestles in the beautiful and peaceful Esk Valley in the heart of The North York Moors. The village has two pubs (both serving food), a bakery and tea room. There is also an excellent National Park Visitor Centre at Danby Lodge – an historic building set in 13 acres of riverside pasture, with facilities which include exhibitions, nature trails and tea rooms. Danby also boasts the ruins of a 14th century castle and the only remaining working water mill on the River Esk. The scenic Esk Valley Railway line runs through the village on its way to Whitby.

Located in Saltburn-by-the-Sea, this cabin is in a rural area. Visitors that enjoy ancient monuments and castles will be delighted. Hidden deep in the River Rye valley, you will find the beautiful, tranquil and romantic Rievaulx Abbey ruins. Rievaulx was one of the first Cistercian abbeys to be founded in England around 1130. Its picturesque ruins became a beacon for poets, painters and scholars. It was one of the first major ruins to be conserved by the ancestor of English Heritage, the Office of Works in 1917. Today it is a very impressive visitor attraction. Terrace and Temples. The temples are 18th century, one of which is the splendid Ionic Temple with intricate ceiling paintings. The views from the terrace are stunning.

In the opposite direction you will find Castle Howard. One of the great palaces of Europe, Castle Howard is a place like no other. Generations of the Howard family have welcomed visitors for over 300 years. You can visit the palace itself or enjoy the lakes, the woodland walk, the walled garden, the tea rooms, the playground and the temples and monuments. There is a lot on offer!

Why not take a trip to Pickering to take a trip on the steam train? Pickering Station is a must-see 1930’s themed station that will transport you back in time to the steam era. The town holds a traditional market every Monday and boasts the Beck Isle Museum, a 13th century castle originally built by William the Conqueror and its beautiful Church of St Peter and St Paul where you can see some magnificent 15th century wall paintings.

Town: A delight for artists, Staithes is a quaint, peaceful seaside town with cobblestone streets and narrow alleyways. A secluded sandy beach is nestled among the rocky shoreline, and the town's charming homes and cottages are grouped around the historic harbour and bordered by high, jagged cliffs on three sides. The community can claim ties to Captain Cook, who served as an apprentice to a draper close to the harbour. Today, Staithes, which boasts a decent selection of pubs, shops, and tea rooms, is a must-see for anyone travelling to the Yorkshire Coast.
