Honing, Norfolk, East of England

Charming craftsman-built shepherd's hut, set in it's own private woodland glade From £791 Availability

A fabulous opportunity to 'slow you down', get back to nature, escape the outside world along with its many distractions, and go completely off-grid! This utterly charming craftsman-built shepherd's hut, set in it's own private woodland glade and conveniently located close to both the coast and the Norfolk Broads, is the perfect antidote to modern life and a rare chance to connect with yourself and the natural world.

You don’t have to be Bear Grylls or a shepherd to stay at Wayfarer's Wood; just someone who appreciates the peace and quiet of the natural landscape in beautiful rural North Norfolk. Situated in the small village of Honing, and hidden away in a private woodland glade with no one else around to disturb your peace and seclusion - except for an occasional visit by a neighbouring hare, badger or deer. On warm days the glade is alive with butterflies and bees, lizards bask in sunlit openings and overhead you may well see marsh harriers and buzzards enjoying the expansive Norfolk sky.

Out here in the sticks there is very little light pollution, and the dark skies are lit just by the brilliance of countless stars. There is no WiFi, television or madding crowds so you will find time to stop and stare and enjoy a more relaxed pace of life. It's the perfect place to wind down and appreciate the simple things in life. Not often in this crazy modern world do you have the luxury of having somewhere all to yourself. But, don't panic, you can still find everything you need close by.

Wayfarers' Wood is not lacking in home comforts. Along with solar powered lighting and a gas hob, the hut can be kept toasty and cosy with the wood burning stove. With double-glazing and insulation from sheep's wool, it warms up quickly and stays snug. When the weather is sunny, the glade has plenty of places to enjoy total privacy and outdoor living. From your own private parking bay, it's a 200m walk along a grassy pathway - wellies or walking boots may be a good idea on wet days - and the helpful owners, who will greet you on arrival, are very happy to help with your bags. A breakfast basket is provided for your stay.
