Kings Meaburn is a small, charming village which is nestled ten miles from Penrith and five miles from Appleby-in-Westmorland. The manor of Meaburn is divided into two villages, Kings Meaburn and Maulds Meaburn which are two miles apart. Meaburn Hall was built in 1610 and was the home of the first Earl of Lonsdale. The village enjoys a real ale pub, The White Horse, which is an easy half mile stroll from the cottage. The Eden Valley is like a hidden secret, nestled in a tranquil corner between The Lake District, The Yorkshire Dales National Park and the North Pennines, all Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty whose landscapes are stunning throughout the whole year. Leading off its main streets are many old yard entrances with interesting inscriptions on the lintels. On the outskirts of Penrith, the beautiful sandstone Brougham Hall dates back to the 14th century. It was under restoration since 1985, one of the largest country house restoration projects in England. It enjoys superb gardens, cafes and arts and crafts works with events being held frequently.

Acorn Bank Garden and Watermill is known for its collection of two hundred and fifty herbs and fruit orchards. There is a delicious tea room menu with herbs from the garden used in soups, salads and scones and fruit from the orchards used in yummy puddings and cakes. You can wander along the Crowdundle Beck to the partly restored watermill, spot wildlife and enjoy the views across the Eden Valley to the Lake District.

The Yorkshire Dales National Park covers more than two thousand square kilometres. Most of the park is in North Yorkshire though with a sizeable area in Cumbria and a small part in Lancashire. The lodge is positioned in a tranquil setting between Keswick and Penrith, within a small group of similar lodges. It is four miles from the village of Greystoke with a traditional country pub and shop. This wood-built Scandinavian style lodge has floor-to-ceiling windows providing extensive open views over the countryside. The lounge /dining area is large, modern and recently furnished with a high vaulted ceiling and a wood burning stove for which logs are provided. The dining table comfortably seats six people. Additionally, there is an outside decking area with seating, perfect for enjoying summer evenings and admiring the often beautiful sunsets! For your entrainment there is a CD/radio together with a TV/DVD player and through the Roku box it is possible to access Freeview or log into your own streaming services, if you have a subscription. WiFi is available throughout the property.
The squirrel feeder positioned just outside the window allows guests to observe, from close range, the antics of red squirrels, which are frequent visitors helping themselves to nuts. Also, a variety of birds can often be seen feeding from the stations provided for them.
There are three bedrooms, a double, twin and a single. All are spacious and enjoy varied views of the local environment. All bedding is provided and built-in wardrobes along with chests of drawers, provide storage for personal items. If required a travel cot, bed guards and a high chair are also available.
There is a recently modernised shower room, which has a generous shower cubicle with a powerful electric shower, in addition to a toilet, washbasin and vanity unit. All we ask is that you bring your own towels, as only a shower mat and hand towel are provided.
While the Lake District is well known as a gastronomic paradise, if you choose to eat in the large kitchen is fully equipped for family catering including oven, hob, dishwasher, washing machine, fridge/freezer, microwave and toaster. Ample space is available in cupboards for storing guest's provisions.
Outside there is a large garden area bordered on one side by farmers fields and on another by a small stream, Newsom Syke, which can be dry or flowing dependant upon weather conditions, so small children would require supervision. There is parking space for 2 cars, with possible additional space in the visitors parking area near the entrance to the site.
With bustling Keswick its shops, galleries, pubs restaurants and street markets and breathtaking Ullswater all within 30 minutes drive there's plenty to do within easy reach. The surrounding countryside, including nearby Greystoke forest, is all easily accessible and there are plenty of opportunities for walks from the relaxing to the more energetic. Enjoy mountain biking, fell walking and kayaking and sailing, or for a more leisurely exploration of the Lakes enjoy a cruise on one of the much-loved Lakes steamers and launches.
Just a 15 minute drive is Penrith, a thriving ancient market town with its supermarkets, castle and railway station. Nearby are the charming villages of Greystoke, Caldbeck, Mungrisdale and Hesketh Newmarket, with their own pubs and local shops. Sitting between Keswick, Penrith, Carlisle and Ullswater, this lodge offers an ideal base for exploring the northern Lake District, Cumbria and also Hadrian's Wall. Set in White Cross Bay 5 star holiday park our lodge is in a lovely spot with woodland outlook where birds and deer can be seen. White Cross Bay has many attractions for visitors and is set on the side of Lake Windermere with a beautiful marina where boat launching is available. You have the option of using all the facilities such as Swimming Pool & Spa, Gym, Outdoor Sports Court. Childrens playground, Childrens club, Bar and restaurant or you can just chill and relax in the peacefulness of the Log Cabin which has a wrap around decking area with a large table and chairs along with a sofa set all not overlooked. There are walks from the site and Brockhole Visitors Centre is within walking distance where the Treetop Trek is available along with smaller facilities for younger visitors. The boats to Ambleside, Windermere and all the walkers stops including Wray Castle stop at Brockhole so the whole of Lake Windermere can be reached without having to take the car.

Our Lounge is very well furnished with all matching furniture and it has 2 sofas and a modern wall mounted cosy fire, there is a 32" TV, DVD player, Hi Fi, I pod deck and we have USB charging sockets for your convenience. There are french doors leading directly on to the decking area which is ideal for Al Fresco dining.

The Dining Area has a large 6 seater dining table with chairs and is ideal for the family to enjoy meals together.

Our modern fitted kitchen overlooks woodlands to all sides and has all the facilities required for a home from home holiday whilst watching the birds feed. There is an oven, hob, dishwasher, washing maching, fridge/freezer, microwave, toaster and kettle.

The main bedroom with king size bed overlooks woodlands and has an en-suite bathroom with walk in shower cubicle, there are fitted wardrobes and bedside cabinets.

The second bedroom which looks towards Scafell Pike in the distance has a king size zip and link bed which enables the room to be used as a double or twin room. there is a fitted wardrobe.

The third bedroom overlooking woodland has full size bunk beds so is ideal for both children and adults.

The main bathroom has a corner jacuzzi bath and shower, many guests have commented on how lovely it is to have a jacuzzi bath after a walk in the Lake District.

There is ample parking in 3 parking areas outside the lodge.
