Modern Comfort in Tranquil Farm and Forests 4

Presteigne, Glamorgan, Wales

Modern Comfort in Tranquil Farm and Forests From £777 Availability

The Old Stables is a brand-new holiday chalet on a farm at the end of a forest track. The farm nestles in a valley in the Radnor Forest.

The surrounding land resembles part Swiss mountain woodland and part Yorkshire Dales, with many forest paths. The sound of sheep, a gurgling stream, and a noisy dawn chorus will caress your ears. The skies are dark at night – perfect for astrophotography and star gazing. The air is crisp, and our spring-fed water is deliciously sweet and chemical-free.
The modern wheelchair-friendly south-facing property is warm and cosy, with two bedrooms suitable for four guests, a kitchen, diner/lounge.

The south-facing bedroom and lounge doors open onto the decking, which is bathed in sunlight from morning to night (when it's not raining, overcast or at night).

There is parking for two cars. It is a perfect location if you want to escape the busyness of life and the intrusion of electronic media (no broadband and limited phone signal).

The garden and land around the property demonstrate some aspects of permaculture that may interest visitors.

Your ears will be deafened by the sound (and not smell) of sheep, a gurgling stream and a noisy dawn chorus.

There are woodpeckers, hawks, a resident family of wagtails, chattering swifts or swallows (I can’t tell which as they fly too fast) and our very own resident Robin. If you are lucky, you will see deer walking past the holiday chalet as they make their way to the forest track at dusk.

Deer, badgers, a family of boars, and our guardian Hare (Lord Frith) are seen from time to time in the forest track leading to the Old Stables.

The decking at the chalet faces open skies - perfect for a telescope or nighttime photography. Bird watchers can see buzzards flying above and in the distance, depending on the day and season.

This chalet is located in Presteigne. Shropshire Hills and Hergest Ridge reflect the area's natural beauty and area attractions include Hergest Croft Gardens and The Spaceguard Centre. Small Breeds Farm Park and Owl Centre and Westonbury Mill Water Gardens are also worth visiting. Kayaking offers a great chance to get out on the surrounding water, or you can seek out an adventure with hiking, horse riding, and mountain biking nearby.
