Heartstone Cabin is a purpose hand built off grid hideaway in the land of lochs and rainbows. Pet friendly, right by Loch Long on the beautiful Cowal Peninsula on the West Coast of Scotland. We have tried to build an eco-cabin which offers a sustainable future. It is a short drive from Dunoon which offers lots of shops, cafes and restaurants as well as two theatres a cinema and lots of live music. As a self-catering cabin, you'll find everything you need for a perfect stay.

For a small fee we offer a hamper of local produce to be in the cabin on your arrival, just let us know directly if you would like one.

The kitchen has a fridge, a hob, a kettle, a microwave and access to a freezer and iron.

The cabin is heated by a very efficient multi fuel stove which we will light for ypur arrivalin colder weather. The bathroom is heated thermostatically.

We have drying facilities for wet walking, biking or swimming gear and secure parking for motorbikes and cycles.
It is the perfect place to relax and get away from it all.

There is one bedroom in the cabin with a very comfy double bed. All bed linen and towels are provided.

There is a small bathroom, which has a toilet a sink and a walk-in shower.

We offer a comfy dog bed if needed (please ask) as well as some pet towels and blankets though feel free to bring your own.

It is worth noting we DO NOT have TV or wifi, this is an off grid getaway. Also please note as an off grid cabin all electrics are 12v. The cabin does have charging points for phones/cameras however.

House Rules:
- Check-in time is anytime from 3 p.m and check-out is by 11 a.m
- Smoking is not allowed anywhere on the premises.
- There are on-site parking facilities available at the property.
- Pets are very welcome at Heartstone (free of charge) please let us know if you are planning on bringing any.

Located in Dunoon, this cabin is in the mountains and on a lake. Blairmore and Strone Golf Glub and Puck's Glenn are worth checking out if an activity is on the agenda, while those wishing to experience the area's natural beauty can explore Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park and Loch Long. The Space:
Inspired by his experience of living in the wild for a year and his Grandfather; a gold mining prospector Jack has created Finglen Cabins. The "Captain's Retreat" is a little piece of paradise where you can escape the hustle and bustle of modern life. Come and relax on the verandah with a long drink and listen to the sound of bird songs and the burn which runs through our wildflower meadow. Enjoy our outside double-ended bathtub to live out your countryside hot tub experience.

Finglen Cabins has everything that you will need for a relaxing getaway, whether you want to stay for the weekend or a month we have thought of everything. There is hot running water, electricity, a woodfired oven and hob as well as an electrical hob (just in case it's too hot to fire up the oven)! There is an indoor bathroom with a hot shower, sink, and composting toilet, yes we have an indoor composting toilet. Don't worry the composting toilet is state of the art, it has a fan to remove any "odd" smells and a full user guide is included in your cabin welcome pack as there are some key tips that you need to know about using the composting toilet. It also has a smoke alarm and carbon monoxide alarm for safety. The cabin sleeps two people in a luxurious king-size bed with a storage drawer cleverly hidden under the bed, we also have a small wardrobe for anyone who doesn't want to leave their fancy frocks behind. Heating is provided by the wood burning stove and there is an electrical radiator in the bathroom, so you won't have to worry about cold damp towels. The cabin has been designed and built to be very heat efficient so it doesn't require much heating, and when warm it holds its heat amazingly well. We have created a generous veranda so that you can enjoy the fresh air when relaxing or eating during your stay. The icing on the cake and we are very proud of this addition is the hot running outdoor bath tub. What more could anybody want than to soak in a hot bath on a summer or winters evening whilst enjoying your favorite tipple and gazing longingly at the meadow and river as it winds its way past the cabin?

The Neighborhood:
A warm Scottish welcome awaits you or simply check yourself in at Finglen: relax, unwind, and find the space to be yourself. Finglen Cabins is run by Sabrina & Douglas Campbell who have lived at Finglen for nearly 40 years. If you want local knowledge there is no-one better. Kick back and relax on the veranda and watch the aerial displays of Swallows and House Martins whilst enjoying spectacular sunsets over the river. With sunrise at 0430 and sunset at 2330 there is so much time to explore and enjoy the local area, climb mountains or just walk through the woods and relax.

The Off-Grid camping has everything you will need for the perfect retreat, complete with great closeby walks.

Interaction with Guests:
Our host, Douglas has spent his whole career working as a television cameraman and his knowledge of Scotland and the local area is second to none and is happy to take you on trips of the area. Sabrina is a leading fashion consultant with an abundant collection of clothes on display at Finglen House, so if you are missing the buzz of shopping, why not try shopping in a more relaxed personal environment right on your doorstep?

Situated in a pretty woodland setting approximately 50 yards from the shore of beautiful Loch Awe and backing onto open meadows where children can play safely. The site is in an area of outstanding natural beauty, with breath taking scenery, endless walks and abundant wildlife.

Whether you require a base from which to explore Argyll and the west coast, simply enjoy the local area or just relax and be at one with nature our log cabins provide the perfect location.

The accommodation consists of open plan Lounge, dining area and kitchen, double bedroom, -bunk room, twin sleeping loft, family bathroom and hot tub.

The lounge / dining area has a high vaulted ceiling, Satellite TV, DVD, Hi Fi (via TV and DVD), sofa, easy chairs, dining table for eight and a lovely wood burning stove. The front elevation is mainly glazed, to maximize the views, with French windows opening onto a raised veranda area facing towards the loch.

The kitchen area is well equipped, with cooker, fridge, microwave, toaster, kettle and all necessary utensils, crockery and cutlery.

Bathroom is tastefully finished and has electric shower, wash basin, toilet and shaver point.

Bedroom 1 has a double bed, built in wardrobe / clothes storage and bed side cabinet.

Bedroom 2 has a double bed with single bunk over, wardrobe / clothes storage and bed side cabinet.

Sleeping loft (1.80m ceiling height) is access via a ladder & has twin beds, bed side cabinets and clothes storage.

Outside there is parking for 2 cars, a hot tub (extra charge of £109 / stay), elevated veranda with garden furniture, a fire pit area and ample grounds.

The cabin is timber lined throughout, double glazed, highly insulated, well heated and suitable for year round use. It provides a balance of luxury and comfort while maintaining the character, charm and feel of a true log cabin in a quiet woodland location.
